In support of National Biotechnology Week, the Orthopaedic Innovation Centre (OIC) welcomed students from Glenboro School to see biotechnology in action and become inspired by the many technologies that are making a difference in the treatment of chronic diseases.
Hip and knee replacements are the most cost effective medical intervention ever devised. Implantable articulating surfaces that withstand life’s daily forces over many years and are compatible inside the human body is a major biotechnology focus for OIC. These high school students could be among the future biomedical engineers continuing to advance this technology.
