Standard Practice for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Non-Modular Metallic Orthopaedic Hip Femoral Stems

Describes standardized methods for finite element analysis (FEA) to estimate the stresses and strains on non-modular metallic orthopaedic hip stems. This standard practice is used to assess and identify worst-case scenarios within a family of implant sizes, and to provide guidance for physical testing. The procedures of this FEA standard follow the mechanical methods outlined in ISO 7206-4.
